Not only does it provide people with a community of fellow sportspeople, but golfing helps people live longer.

You heard us right: golfing is good for your health, and that is all the excuse you should ever need to pull out the clubs.

Jaclyn Law writes, "golf is an aerobic exercise that's good for both heart and lungs. It can also help prevent chronic diseases such as type-2 diabetes, strokes, colon cancer and breast cancer... Playing golf improves balance, muscle tone and

Congratulations, Calgary!

You were voted that 5th most livable city for the 7th straight year!

Cities across the globe are voted on a scale of 1-100. Points are awarded for stability, education, healthcare, infrastructure and culture and environment. Tied with Adelaide, Australia, Calgary earned a score of 96.6. The top score went to Melbourne, Australia which scored 97.5. A 0.9 point difference is all that separated us!

This achievement is a testament to the truly great city that Calgary is, and the people who make it so wonderful. Mayor Naheed Nenshi notes, "this is a reminder that, despite our current economic challenges, Calgary remains one of the best cities in the world. August is one of the busiest times of the year for rental properties. This because one major portion of renters are students preparing to go back to school in September. With so many people looking for affordable housing in Calgary, renters and landlords need to be informed.

Renting is a great option if you are not planning permanent settlement in the location or if you cannot yet afford to purchase a home. Renting gives you the freedom to negotiate terms (such as payment, length of stay, etc.) and allows you to "shop around" until you find a location you want to stay in permanently.

If you are planning to permanently live in the location and can afford a down payment on a house and a mortgage, we highly recommend you look into purchasing a

http://www.digitaljournal.com/topic/Perseid+meteor+showerEvery August the Perseid Meteor Shower is visible here in Calgary, and it is an opportunity you do not want to miss. This year's is particularly important for all of you amateur astronomers out there, since NASA has advised the public that it will be their best chance to see a meteor shower this year.

Although the moon will be bright enough to hinder some visibility, you can expect to see, on average, 80 meteors an hour. Meteor sightings are best after 1 a.m, just before dawn. If you're planning to catch the show, make sure you are prepared with warm clothing, blankets, snacks and water.

The best place to witness any astronomical event is far away from any light pollution. Light pollution is at its most concentrated in big cities such as Calgary. If
