At the start of every movie, there is a sweeping shot of the city it takes place in. For Paris they show the Eiffel Tower, for London they show Big Ben, for New York they show the Empire State building, for Vancouver they show the waterfront. These shots focus on the most recognizable feature in a city to immediately ground a film. It is a subtle and effective tactic to get people to recognize a city right away.

While not many movies find their setting in Calgary, we too have buildings that help others to instantly recognize us. Places such as the original Fire Station, the Saddledome and Peace Bridge are plastered all over websites and pamphlets promoting our great City. While for some cities, such as London, their most recognized building stays

Happy long weekend!

There is nothing quite as glorious as having not one, not two, but three days in a row off! Long weekends feel like the only weekends you get to truly relax, which is why we are planning on making the most of it. They only come around once every month or so, after all!

Not sure what to do this long weekend? Here are some ideas:

  • Stock up your DVR by scheduling it to record all of the Olympic events! Since South Korea is in a much different time zone, all the best Olympic action is happening while we're fast asleep. • Spend a day going

Valentine's Day is February 14th, this Wednesday! Mark your calendars, particularly those of you whose significant others have big expectations.

Some people are critical of Valentine's Day. Theask, "why must there be a specific day of the year to force people to show love? In a healthy relationship, every day should be Valentine's Day. They say there is nothing quite like home-sweet-home, and they're right. Our homes are where our families grow, our treasured possessions are kept, our pictures are on the wall and our memories are made. When we're not at home, we crave our bed and miss knowing just how much to turn the tap to get the perfect temperature of water. Our homes are deeply personal, a major part of our lives.

Perhaps we're getting sentimental. After all, Valentine's Day is just one week away. However, we are firm believers in the importance of a home, not only because so many people are not fortunate enough to have one, but because homes do play a major role in our lives.

We love our home! But do we always treat it with love? No. Sometimes we let it fall into
