Home Staging: Kitchen Edition

Kitchens are one of the most frequently used areas of the home, making it understandable that they often experience the most wear and tear. Kitchens are an area where dust and grime can build up quickly if left unattended, making them one area potential buyers will zero in on quickly to see what the level of cleanliness is in your home. When it comes to home staging, kitchens cannot go neglected.

Here are some easy ways to fix up your kitchen without having to completely remodel it. Doing this will be good for your wallet and good for your home, along with making it a much more aesthetically pleasing space for buyers.

1), Wipe down all surfaces and re-paint where needed. Using a simple mix of water and vinegar helps clean away dirt, stains and disinfects the surface. It also does not leave such a permanent, unpleasant smell. Pair that with it being toxin-free and you have a winner! If there are any scratches on cabinets or the walls that you can cover with paint easily, do so. This will make everything look fresh and new, even if it isn’t.

2). Some choice artwork can improve the space tremendously. Put away your grimy cookbooks and hang up a print of a cute kitchen quote or picture. Right now IKEA has prints of different cooking herbs that are both stylish and simple. Whatever you pick, try something with a contrasting colour compared to the walls. A bright splash of colour will make the space seem brighter.

3). Put out a bowl of fresh fruit. Fresh fruit is the epitome of health, simplicity, beauty and cleanliness. One new trend that would work perfectly for this is slicing up lemons and putting them in a vase with flowers. Just make sure you do this the morning of your house showing so the lemons and flowers stay fresh!

4). Finally, go through your cupboards and fridge to make sure nothing has gone bad and is leaving an unpleasant smell. This is especially important in the pantry since potential buyers may be peeking in to see what the space looks like. Doing this will be good for you, too! If you do end up moving quickly, it allows you to see what you can pack and move and what you should eat before you leave.

Best of luck, have fun!
