There are so many fun things to see and do in the Yukon that we could never fit them all into one blog post. However, here some ideas to get you started:
1). Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park: Be a part of the Yukon Gold Rush by visiting the town of Skagway, the original gold miner hub. Visit historic buildings and museums, go on tours and learn how to pan for gold, shop the small boutiques and enjoy local cuisine, and watch the cruise ships come into the harbor. This park is busiest in the summertime, but Skagway is its most beautiful in the winter. Perfect for family fun and learning, the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park is a must-see and well worth the trip.
2). Takhini Hot Springs: Located just 20 minutes out of Whitehorse, Takhini Hot Springs is world-renowned for their relaxing, mineral-rich hot springs. This is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Yukon for a reason. However, if you want a more private experience, you can rent the pool from 10:00 PM – 1:00 AM for a very reasonable price. With little light pollution, this is a great opportunity for you to view the stunning Northern lights!
3). Midnight Sun: In the summertime, the Yukon gets 24 hours of sunlight. This gives you even more time to explore this beautiful territory! Travel Yukon writes, “Visiting the Yukon in the summer is the perfect way to get your dose of adventure and Vitamin D. In the land of the midnight sun, the skies are glorious and summer light just won't quit… Experience endless vistas, millions of migratory birds and wildflowers in bloom. Follow trails alive with stories. Walk in the footsteps of legends. Paddle mighty rivers. And when you realize it’s midnight… you realize it doesn’t matter.”
