Alberta University of the Arts

Once upon a time, SAIT (the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) had a art classes students could attend on weeknights and Saturdays. Eventually these classes became so popular and in such high demand that a separate program had to be created to facilitate the need. In 1985, AUA broke away from SAIT and became it's very own, full-fledged post secondary institute.

With a wide range of creative programs, such as photography and sculpting, AUA has been the go-to for students looking to further their education in their artistic skills. AUA also houses an indigenous resource centre, at the centre of which is the Lodgepole, "an all-inclusive space [that] facilitates Elder advising and support, traditional ceremonies, and workshops, and is a quiet study, smudge and gathering space."
