Calgary Transit
At Calgary Transit, their mission is "connecting you with people and places you care about by providing safe, accessible, reliable and courteous public transportation services." They do this via their buses and the LRT lines, contributing to the city, the people, and the environment.
The City of Calgary is 848 kilometers squared, with approximately 1.3 million people. That is a lot of land and people to serve via transit! To do so effectively, their goals are: to "make transit a convenient and comfortable travel alternative through the development of a Primary Transit Network (frequent, highly connected and well integrated network), link land use decisions to transit, integrate transit with civic life, incorporate new transit technologies and innovations, [and] sustain fleet and infrastructure."
In Calgary it is required that no individual is more than 200 meters from a Calgary Transit stop. This has made it so that transit is available to everyone, whether you live right downtown, in an established community like Bowness, or in a new suburb.
