Montgomery Today

Montgomery is the gatekeeper of the City of Calgary. When you enter Calgary from the west on the Trans Canada Highway, Montgomery is one of the first communities you drive through. It is from Montgomery that the downtown core comes into view, glistening with potential and the spirit of the Wild West.

Montgomery has earned quite a reputation within Calgary for being an exclusive, inclusive community. What we mean is: the area is highly sought after and stands apart as one of Calgary’s top neighborhoods, but the people who live in Montgomery are welcoming and very focused on fostering a positive environment. Once you’re in, you’ll never want to leave. Not only will you gain a new home-sweet-home, but a community-sweet-community.

Montgomery is part of the Calgary’s Business Revitalization Zone. Businesses are encouraged to work together to create a stronger brand for the community, and with support from Calgarians, to thrive. Here are some local Montgomery businesses to make note of:

The Full Monty writes that Montgomery “now enjoys more than one hundred diverse shops, restaurants, businesses and health and wellness destinations. A strategic location choice for any up and coming business to ‘open up shop,’ Montgomery’s commercial district will continue to evolve… as [Calgary] grows.”

Shop Local, Shop Montgomery!

Montgomery has an incredible array of recreational facilities for residents to enjoy; some of the best in the City of Calgary, in fact. Shouldice Park, named after the community’s founder, has soccer, baseball and football fields. There are batting cages and tennis courts, an indoor pool, and picnic sites along the Bow River. Next to Shouldice Park is Edworthy Park, which includes hiking, biking and walking trails, play structures, a riverfront, off leash dog park and (most importantly) ice cream shop! Check it out!
