Happy Earth Day, everyone!
The mission of Earth Day is to “honor and celebrate our remarkable planet on this extraordinary day. Earth Day is a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, encouraging us to come together and take action for a healthier planet and brighter future. Let's unite in our efforts to protect the Earth today and for generations to come. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and create a more sustainable world” (Earth Day).
In light of Earth Day, here are 3 small products to implement in your home that make a big impact over time:
Beeswax Wraps: Beeswax Wraps replace the need for plastic wrap and Ziploc bags. They cost around five to ten dollars, and can be used for a long time before they need to be replaced or reactivated with a fresh coat of beeswax. Simply warm them in your hands, then the pliable material can be used to seal bowls, make sealed baggies, and more. This will save you money on plastic wrap, and keeps it out of our landfills.
Refillable Toiletries: Toiletries are a huge source of waste. Empty lotion bottles, toothpaste sticks, deodorants, and more really add up. Instead of getting single use items, head to your local refill store to get the same great products in refillable packaging that will last longer and is less expensive! When you run out, head back for a refill. This is a great way to save money and create less waste.
Draft Bags: Draft Bags are long bean bags that are placed along a door that leads to the outside. They block any draft of cold from coming inside through the cracks. This will save you money on heating costs come winter time! These can be purchased or easily made yourself, and are a long-standing energy conservation tool.
What are your favorite simple items that contribute to the well-being of our planet? Remember: while the difference may seem small, in the long run it will add up; especially if we’re all contributing.
