Happy December, Calgary!

The Holidays are officially upon us. Now is the time for sparkly lights hung up in trees, warm treats and drinks on a chilly day, cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies, gift wrapping and bows, treasured time with loved ones and a spirit of gratefulness. Similar to Narnia, in Calgary it can feel like it's always winter but never Christmas. However, in December, it's always Christmas and never winter.

Here at Team Ken Richter, we love Christmas. Ken Richter has been a trusted name in Calgary real estate for 35+ years, with special focus on the communities of Bowness, Montgomery and Bow Crescent. As a resident of Bowness for many years, Ken can attest to how beautiful this community is during the Holiday season and how much…

When preparing to buy a home, most people can not make the purchase outright in cash. It is totally normally and acceptable to use a mortgage. If you're thinking about buying a home but know your credit score won't be good enough, here are some ways you can improve it:

  • Monitor your monthly payments closely! Make sure you are always paying your bills on time, that you are meeting your minimum payments and that you don't skip paying a bill even if it's in dispute. It is time to prepare for snow, Calgary.

We have had a beautiful, mild autumn this year! All of us here at Team Ken Richter hope you have had a chance to get outside and enjoy it. If not, take advantage of this weekend! Temperatures are expected to rise to 6 degrees Celsius, so get a warm drink and go soak in the sunshine.

With snow coming soon whether we want it or not, here are some items to take care of before it’s minus thirty with wind chill and these tasks become much more arduous:

Lawn Care: Rake up your leaves, give your lawn one last mow, remove any dead branches, tidy up the plant beds and take out your shovel from the shed. We recommend putting wooden stakes in the grass along flower beds so you don’t accidently shovel away your…

Remembrance Day is today, November 11th.

On the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, Canadians will stop what they are doing and partake in two minutes of silence to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Having a moment of silence on this particular day is not a trifle decision. It marks a very important day in Canadian history: November 11th, 1918, when "the Armistice was signed and the Canadians took part in the triumphant entry into Mons, Belgium," marking the end of World War I (veterans.gc.ca).

Remembrance Day does not only commemorate World War I; it commemorates all wars, big and small, all veterans, past and present, and all Canadians who have been affected by war in any way. It is so important to…
