If you've driven through downtown lately you may have noticed something odd: random pop up art installations. The Center Street Royal Canadian Legion is covered in white balloon bubbles, giant glow-up rabbits are in the park and human-sized hamster wheels are lined up on Stephen's Ave. So what's the deal?
Beakerhead Calgary 2017 is here.
Beakerhead is, in its own words, "an annual program that brings together the arts, sciences, and engineering sectors to build, engage, compete, and exhibit interactive works of art, engineered creativity and entertainment. Year-round programming and community-connecting culminates in a five-day citywide spectacle consisting over over 60 events centered around delightfully bizarre engineered installations and artworks."
There are events that you have to pay for, but most are free! All you need to do is get downtown. This is a great family-fun opportunity to encourage creativity and invention that is sure to inspire you.
If you are interested in this great event, visit their website at www.beakerhead.com and browse through all the events happening this weekend. Don't miss out on this great opportunity!
