February is the month of love. Typically Calgary has tons of events to help relieve Calgarians of their winter hibernation and draw them outside, but this year continues to be different as we keep conscious of the ongoing COVID-19 situation. In that vein, many events being held this month are at limited capacity or are being held online. While this may be different, we encourage you to still attend in whatever ways you can. Here are some of the events happening across the city this month, and some other helpful links:
February 11-28 || Chinook Blast Winter Festival || The official website writes, "Calgary – come outside, bring your small cohort and enjoy the vibrancy of our city this winter. You’re not afraid of a little cold, are you? Local artists are illuminating our winter weekend nights from February 11 – 28 in the Chinook Blast Hub, an outdoor art park, as well as a number of partner sites around downtown Calgary."
February 12 || Chinese New Year || Chinese New Year in 2021 is the year of the Ox! Celebrate at home with your cohort and use this as an opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture.
February 14 || Valentine's Day || Celebrate with your loved ones by planning a special at-home date night! There are a handful of fun events you can tune into from home, including: The 2021 Draglympics , Valentine's Day Brunch and Concert with The Calgary Opera, and Valentine's Date Night (In Support Of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada).
February 18-21|| Little Modern Market Winter Virtual Market || One of the favourite activities of Calgarians is to attend all the markets across the city to support local artists and makers. While that is hard to do safely these days, Little Modern Market is going virtual to make sure you still have the opportunity to support your fellow Calgarians and enjoy some beautiful homemade goods.
February 15 || Family Day || This family day, take advantage of the long weekend! You could go on a local scavenger hunt around the city of Calgary with Let's Roam! Or, check our some of Avenue Calgary's suggestions on What to Do in the Mountains in February!
