Fun Things To Do This Family Day Long Weekend in Calgary

Family Day Long Weekend is here! Breathe a sigh of relief, YYC. You have an extra day to relax and have some fun after coming through a cold winter spell. Here are some fun things happening around the city this weekend for you to check out:

  • Burger it Forward:  "Support food banks locally and across the country while you savour Canadian beef burgers this February! It's time to BURGER IT FORWARD! In 7 regions across Canada, participating restaurants are grillin' up delicious beef burgers in support of food banks from February 1st to 29th. Beef farmers and ranchers across the country are helping to 'beef up' food banks. As part of the national campaign, for every campaign featured burger purchased, Canada Beef will donate the equivalent of 1 meal to Food Banks Canada."
  • Curling on Saint Patrick's Island: "Hurry hard to the curling rink on St. Patrick’s Island, East Village’s 31 acre backyard. The pop-up synthetic curling rink is located by Confluence Plaza, near the island washrooms and Calgary Zoo parking lot. This is your chance to make some winter memories that rock (pun intended)."
  • Screen Oscar-Nominated Films with CLIFF: "Shorts HD and Magnolia Pictures present the Oscar®-Nominated Short Films, opening on February 16. With all three categories offered – Animated, Live Action and Documentary – this is your annual chance to predict the winners and give yourself a leg up in the Oscar pool! A perennial hit with audiences around the country and the world, don’t miss this year’s selection of shorts and catch The Academy Awards® on Sunday, March 10."
  • Family Day at Lougheed House: "Monday, February 19th, we're opening our doors to free admission for families of all ages to come explore the house, participate in a drop-in Métis beading workshop, and take part in family-friendly tours all day. We will be open for our regular hours, 11:30-3:00 pm, with tours every half hour from 12 pm to 2:30 pm. Free hot chocolate stations will be set up for you to make your own chocolatey creation."

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?
