Giving Back This Holiday Season

The holidays are a wonderful time to pause and reflect on all of the blessings we often overlook. Having warm clothes, a roof overhead, food in the fridge, and loved ones to surround us are all simple privileges. While we may desire more in our lives, it's valuable to take a moment to be grateful for lifes simple pleasures.

In the spirit of the holiday season, this time of year is an excellent opportunity to give back. While we encourage you to remain plugged into ways you can give back to your community year-round, Christmas feels like an extra magical time to look outside your four walls. After all, tis the season for giving!

Here are some tangible ways to give back this holiday season:

  • Become a snow angel! On snowy nights, extend your shoveling to your neighbors driveway, or the elderly couple down the street. This is such a simple way to bless others that costs nothing.
  • While early morning vandalism often ratches up during the holidays as people become more desperate, try early morning blessings! Clear off the windshields of the cars around yours, and help neighbors who may need a boost on a snowy morning.
  • Donate used warm clothes to local shelters. Instead of dropping off used clothing at places like Value Village that will only price gauge shoppers, drop them off at local shelters or donate them to new Calgarians! Items like winter jackets and snow pants are always in high demand.
  • Do some holiday baking and bring it to the office! The holidays are stressful time in many industries as the fourth quarter comes to a close. Bake some yummy treats to lift spirts during times of high stress! This is such a simple way to connect with your coworkers and brighten their day.
  • Pack a shoebox! Samaritan's Purse donates shoeboxes filled with essential items and toys to children all around the world. This is a simple way to make someone's day across the globe!
