As beautiful as Calgary's autumn season is, it’s the beginning of the end for long sunny days. With the sun setting earlier each day, the nights are stretching. Have you noticed yourself feeling tired earlier in the evening? This is likely because of this change.
The shorter days have a significant impact on home showings. This is because it is incredibly difficult to properly assess a prospective home when it’s too dark to see it. In the dark buyers won’t be able to fully experience the bustle of the neighbourhood or see the potential of the full property. You may notice showing bookings trend earlier in the day, even first thing in the morning, to avoid the dark nights.
How can you help? Here are some tips:
- Ensure your viewing windows are as open as possible. Be willing to be flexible where needed to allow prospective buyers optimal times to experience your home. It may not be as convenient for you, but it will help you get your home sold. Ken Richter, your trusted real estate professional, will help advise you on this as needed.
- Supplement the dark nights with more light. Make sure all outdoor lighting is turned on, and add some where you notice darks spots. Simple pathway lights, a lamp by the front door, and backyard lighting will make a big impact. Besides allowing people to see the full extent of the property, it will also prevent them from accidently getting hurt as they explore!
- Bring life into the home. As the leaves fall and air gets cold, make sure your home still feelings as warm and inviting as it did in the summer. Add greenery, such as fresh flowers, and soft lighting to give rooms depth. Keep everything tidy and clear of unnecessary furniture or personal items. Make sure that no matter how dreary it gets outside, your property is a beacon of light and refuge.
