September 2021 Calgary Events & Things To Do YYC

September is a month of getting back into routine. Gone are slow summer days of sleeping in, wandering around the park and having a cold drink around the fire. Now is the time for waking up to the alarm, checking off a to-do list and settling back into another season of back to school and work. This transition can be exciting and overwhelming all at once.

Another element to our September? New COVID-19 regulations and restrictions. As Alberta endures a fourth wave, following a wide open summer, it feels like our horizons went from boundless to more restricted than ever before. If you’re feeling disappointed and frustrated, you’re not alone.

We encourage everyone to focus on the positive. Let’s give our attention to what we CAN do, not what we can’t do. In the spirit of optimism, here are 3 ideas of things to do during this beautiful September:

Go for a Drive: Order yourself a cozy drink from your favorite local café and hit the open road. The backroads to places such as Canmore, Bragg Creek and Water Valley are filled with stunning views of nature. The leaves are starting to change and fall is official here.

Explore Calgary: Calgary has some incredibly old communities, and some brand new communities. Both have their charms and hidden gems. Walk through an area you’ve never been before and check out their unique homes, local ships and park areas.

Create a Fun Day at Home: A family favourite weekend activity when everyone is tired is to have a movie marathon. Spend the day watching The Lord of The Rings, Harry Potter, or another show with multiple films or seasons. Make a meal inspired by the show and have a mid-day intermission to walk to the corner store to pick up snacks.

Make September memorable in whatever way is best for your wellbeing, and stay safe!
