Shopping Local This Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is nearly upon us, and you know what that means: it's time to treat yourself.

Whether you're shopping for a partner, friend, family member, coworker, or yourself, you're shopping for someone you love. And yes, yes, we know: it's important to show love every day of the year and take time to appreciate those around us, not just on a commercialized holiday. That can be true, while also having fun with this Hallmark Holiday and recognizing a day specifically devoted to love.

If you're looking for ideas on what to get you Valentine, we humbly suggest shopping local. After all, what better combination is there than treating the ones you love while also supporting a small business you love? Here are some ideas of small businesses to check out for your Valentine's Day gifting:

  • Ollia Macarons: Nothing is more romantic than a treat of champagne and French macarons! Ollia, located on 17th Avenue, whips up delicious and authentic macarons fresh daily. Our favourite flavour is Raspberry, but they have tons of options and some special Valentine's day cakes, too.
  • Allan's Flowers: Skip the grocery store baby's breath and overpriced roses, and head to Allan's Flowers. They have the most beautiful, one-of-a-kind flower arrangements, and can help you create a bouquet that is sure to wow your Valentine! We love having them in the community of Montgomery.
  • Steeling Home: Looking for something unique for your Valentine? Head to Steeling Home, a home goods store with a wide array of locally made and beautifully curated products. This is one of those stores that you never go to with something particular in mind, but always leave with some treasures.
  • Monogram Coffee: Starbucks gift cards are so last season! Instead, opt for one of our many local coffee shops. Monogram roasts their own beans and has multiple locations across the city. Their coffee is made with love, and their cafe's are the perfect place for a sweet date.
