It was another Stampede for the books!
We had so much fun celebrating with you, Calgary. The theme for the 2022 Stampede was ‘Together Again,’ a fitting sentiment. As many of those who didn’t return last year due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis came back to the grounds for the first time in two years, there was a feeling of relief this summer as the greatest outdoor show on earth began. We’re back, and we’re betting than ever.
This year had everything we love about the Stampede: community, pancakes, western wear, sportsmanship, two-stepping, sky-high rides and more! The feeling on the grounds was electric. Whether you were watching the chuckwagon races or the BMX show, shopping in the BMO center or playing games on the midway, it felt like being there for the first time again.
Here are some of the highlights from this year’s Stampede that we hope to see next year:
1). Music venues galore! This year there were more music venues and shows across the city than ever before. The shows on the grounds were one thing; but across the city tents were popping up everywhere, hosting talent from home and afar. There was something for everyone.
2). Tasty treats! Every year the midway hosts delicious and strange concoctions. This year was no different. With Mac and Cheese Dole Whip, foot long potato spirals, and more, there was something for everyone. Those who weren’t feeling too adventurous could enjoy classic Lemonade and Mini Donuts, too.
3). Fashion! Every year the fashion at Stampede gets more and more creative. Move over, Levi jeans and white hats. This year was all about sparkly pink hats and fringe, fringe, fringe! Some Calgarians were treating the Stampede like their own Coachella.
4). Dogs! The dog show is always a hit at Stampede. This year our Canine friends delivered higher jumps, further leaps, and extraordinary levels of athleticism and affection. These cute companions were the champions of Stampede, as per usual.
5). An Evening Show spectacular! Dean Brody headlined this year’s Evening Show that followed the chuckwagons. Once again the Young Canadians made us proud and put on one incredible event! What followed was a firework show you could see from every corner of the city, complete with a firework launcher cannon!
We’re already excited for Stampede 2023!
