Summer Home Staging Tips

It's summertime, and it's beautiful outside in Calgary, Alberta

The summer season is a great time to sell your home. More buyers are searching for properties thanks to the good weather, summer holidays, and a hot real estate market. While this gorgeous season can certainly help sell your home, you still need to make sure you're staging it appropriately.

Here are some summer home staging tips:

  • Let in the light: "With summer’s longer days and extended periods of sunshine, letting natural light stream into your home is one of the simplest and most effective ways to market it" (REW). Give all your windows a thorough wash inside and out, pull back the drapes, and let the gorgeous summer rays inside!
  • Embrace summer colors: "Try and incorporate summery hues like soft blues, greens, and yellows into your decor palette to evoke a sense of freshness and vitality. Consider updating any throw pillows, rugs, or artwork with this color palette to brighten up your space" (Zoocasa). You don't need to buy new items, simply cover existing ones. Make sure not to overdo it, but colorful touches make a big impact.
  • Add some greenery: "Whether you’re selling a home with a yard or a teeny condo, incorporating live plants in and around your home is a great way to make it more appealing to buyers" (REW). If you have a yard, make sure the grass is cut and the shrubbery is pruned. If you don't have any green space on the property, pick up a bouquet and add some florals to the rooms.
  • Embrace scent: "Consider infusing your home with refreshing summer scents using candles, diffusers, or fresh flowers with light, citrusy fragrances to help create an even more inviting atmosphere" (Zoocasa). Scents like grapefruit, strawberry, vanilla citrus, and sandalwood are great options.
