Thankfulness This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is this weekend. This annual holiday celebrates the beginning of autumn and gives people a chance to take a step back from the hustle and bustle of their day to day lives to remind themselves of how blessed they are. This thanksgiving we want to challenge you to celebrate by showing those around you just how thankful you are for them. Here some ideas of ways you can do this:

Coworkers: Good coworkers are worth celebrating. After all, not everyone gets to work with the best people. Celebrate your coworkers by bringing in cookies or organizing a potluck lunch where people can bring in Thanksgiving leftovers. Also remember that if you have a job you get to go to every day, you are incredibly fortunate. So many families struggle to find steady work or work at all. Consider making a donation to a local food bank to aid families who cannot afford to put food on the table.

Family: Nothing says “I appreciate you” quite like food and quality time. If you aren’t up for cooking a huge turkey dinner, consider having people to your house to watch Football and play board games. If everyone brings their favourite snack and you provide the drinks, you’ll have more than enough food for everyone. We get so busy, so intentionally making time to spend with family is important.

Community: Calgary is filled with fantastic communities that citizens should be incredibly grateful for! We need to celebrate our fantastic neighbourhoods. Give back by walking around and picking up garbage, volunteering at an upcoming event, joining a community watch list to keep your area safe, or simply dropping off fresh pie on someones doorstep.

We have so much to be thankful for. Spread the love by showing those around you how much they are appreciated!
