It's no secret that we love Calgary. This is a city that is easy to adore and romanticize. It may not be perfect, but at Team Ken Richter, we are so proud to call ourselves Calgarian.
Here are just a few of the things we love about Calgary:
- The Downtown Skyline: Anchored by The Bow and The Calgary Tour, the downtown skyline sits nestled against the bow river in a near perfect arch. Creating spectacular views from all angles, the skyline is the heart of this city.
- The YYC Airport: Thoughtfully designed and developed over time, YYC is easy to navigate, filled with sweet nods to the culture of the city, and white-hats with friendly faces. Plus, the new internal transit system is very fun.
- The Small Shops: Calgary is home to so many entrepreneurs, and residents get to benefit from their creativity and innovation. In every corner of the city you’ll find independent shops, restaurants, and facilities. Shopping small and supporting local is a key value for Calgarians.
- The Welcome Signs: When you enter city limits, you’re greeted by a sign that says ‘Welcome to Calgary, Blue Sky City.’ These signs highlight our big prairie skies and sunshine, reminding us that in this city anything is possible.
- The Music: Calgary is a city for musicians, with incredible venues to play and festivals to attend. Whether you like country music, R&B, singer-songwriter, pop, or anything in between, there is something for everyone.
- The Chinooks: Unlike our neighbours to the North, Calgary is perfectly situated to enjoy the benefits of Chinooks, warm winds that give reprieve to cold winter days. Known by the cloud arch they create, Chinooks are always something to look forward to.
- The Recreation: Not only is Calgary near the mountains for a weekend getaway skiing or hiking, but the city itself has state-of-the-art facilities, from Winsport to The Climbing Centre. Whatever your sport is, Calgary offers it.
- The Stampede: We would be remised to not include our favourite ten days of the year, when Calgary hosts the greatest outdoor show on earth. Bucking broncos, wild foods, top musicians, thrilling rides, and so much more makes this event memorable.
