Celebrating Mother's Day During Quarantine

Mother's Day is this weekend! Have you prepared something in celebration? If not, here are some ideas you can do even while in quarantine:

Prepare a Pamper Basket || Put together a basket of all of your mom's favorite things! This can be done inexpensively and can be completely customized to your mom. Spend some time thinking about her favorite things, then put them all in a basket (Michael's Craft Supply stores have gorgeous baskets). Many places are either now open or you can do curbside pickup, so shopping for a gift is still possible despite quarantine. Here are some ideas for things to include to get you started:

  • Candy
  • Candle
  • Magazine or Book
  • Bath Bomb
  • Favorite Drink
  • Customized Mug

Take Her to Brunch || Mom's love quality time. Although you still can't go sit down in most restaurants, you can order in from places like Skip the Dishes and Uber Eats! Skip Denny's and try something unique to YYC. After all, it's Mother's Day! If there were ever a time to find somewhere special, it is this very special event. Here are some ideas for places to go for brunch:

  • Holy Grill
  • Galaxie Diner
  • Jelly Modern Doughnuts
  • Brekkie
  • Nellies on Kensington

Get Sentimental || If you don't have a lot of money to spend this Mother's Day, do something homemade and special. Take the time to write your mom a nice, long note about how much she means to you, your favorite memories with her, what your dreams are for her, how she has impacted you and how wonderful of a woman she is. Include with the note a chocolate bar or a $5 gift card to her favorite coffee place. This gesture may be simple, but if sincere, it will mean the world to her.

Remember that Mother's Day is not only about celebrating your own mother, but the mother-figures in your life. At it's core, it is a celebration of the kindness and strength of women, particularly as it relates to nurturing those around them. We are proud to know some fantastic women and moms, and this Sunday, we honor them.

Happy Mother's Day!
