Why I Love Bowness

My family has lived in Bowness and Montgomery since 1955, and I (Ken Richter) also attended and graduated from Bowness High School in 1976. Bowness is where my wife Vivian Richter and I raised our children, who also attended public school from K to 12 here. Over the past 40 years I have been a Bowness Community Minor Hockey Coach for 9 years, participated in other Bowness sporting teams, and helped organize numerous community special events. Over the years, my wife Vivian also volunteered with the Bowness Figure Skating Club and assisted and supported our family with many BCA activities. Today our immediate family all live and play in Bowness, including our children and grandchildren.

Every year we sponsor the BCA Holiday Dinner and the Annual Bowness Stampede Breakfast and Parade. Recognized in the past as active volunteers who embodied the spirit of Bowness, the Bowness Lions and Parade Committee also decided to ask Vivian and I to be their honoree Parade Marshalls and lead the 27th Annual Parade on July 9th, 2016. What a joy and honour that was! Ibrings us great pleasure to genuinely say, "We Love Bowness!"

We have always enjoyed being a part of the community by volunteering, and welcome all that it has to offer, including our current involvement with the Bowness Community Planning and Development Committee.  As a Bowness resident, I have also worked for 38+ years and am still active today as a professional real estate agent and a top selling REALTOR* for 33 consecutive years in Bowness and Montgomery.  I have assisted many families young and old, property investors, and "Mom and Pop" businesses in their decision to make the community of Bowness home.

Nothing tops the charm of Bowness! Today, Bowness is an eccentric inner city community, nestled along the river banks of the beautiful Bow River with close proximity to the University of Calgary, Foothills Medical Centre, AB Children's Hospital, and downtown Calgary, along with a quick west exit to the majestic Rocky Mountains and much more. The community of Bowness embraces true natural beauty all year round, including the iconic Bowness Park enjoyed by all residents and its surrounding neighbours.

All of the above reasons are why we choose to continue to volunteer and support the BCA. The community of Bowness is truly our "Our Home Sweet Home!"

Thank you, Bowness!

Sincerely,

Ken Richter
