10 Things We Loved About The 2024 Stampede

And just as quickly as it arrived, the Calgary Stampede has come to a close. It truly is one of the greatest times of the year with the greatest outdoor show on earth. The Stampede is such a point of pride for Calgary, and every year we look forward to experiencing it! We already cannot wait until next year, but in the meantime, here are some highlights from this year:

  1. The Music Lineup: Each year we are always surprised to see who is performing at the Stampede, and this year was no different. There was something for everyone, whether you attended a big show in the Dome or the Cowboys tent.
  2. The WestJet Chair Lift: If you need to get from one side of the grounds to the other, the chairlift is a great way to do so! Not only do you get to avoid the crowds along the midway, but you get incredible views of the grounds and the downtown core.
  3. The New BMO Centre: The new BMO Centre is absolutely gorgeous! The building is an architectural dream, giving a much-deserved facelift to the grounds. It also provided tons of shade for people to embrace on the hot days.
  4. Fleurs de Villes: Inside the new BMO Centre was Fleurs de Villes, an art installation where famous country music stars were created out of flowers! From Taylor Swift to Garth Brooks, there was something for everyone.
  5. Kids Rodeo: While the main bull riding event is a spectacle, nothing is quite as delightful as watching the little kids ride sheep and small cows with the same cowboy spirit as the adults. They stole the show!
  6. The Food: So many people come to the Calgary Stampede simply for the food. This year a favourite was Dunkeroo Mini Donuts and Watermelon Lemonade. Our mouths are still watering.
  7. Local Shops: The Market hall had so many local shops and small businesses this year! It was nice to see Calgary supporting local, and seeing these businesses get such a great opportunity.
  8. Free Things: This year the Stampede had so many free things, from Haribu treats to Stampede Yeti engravings. These little touches always felt like such a treat during what can be an expensive outing.
  9. The Shows: Incredible canines, daring motorcycle rides, and delightful circus acts made every day at the stampede magical! Every year these events seem to get bigger and better.
  10. The People: Is the Stampede crowded? Absolutely. But it is such a treat to celebrate the spirit of the wild west with Calgarians and visitors alike. We are proud to live in YYC!

See y'all next year!
