Fall Activities

The fall is here and summer is over, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the great outdoors! One of the best ways to do this is to join an organized sport, whether that be through your community sports association or your school! For those of you that have had enough of the great outdoors, there are plenty of indoor sports beginning this time of year, too.

The school sports starting this fall are mainly volleyball and football. Try out for your team and begin preparing for the season by eating healthier and getting active! Show your coach your dedication and confidence by introducing yourself to them and coming to the gym prepared and on time. Check your school’s website for tryout schedules. Good luck!

Community sports offer a plethora of options for sports lovers of all ages. There is something for everyone, from curling to figure skating to hockey to fencing! Make sure to look into these sporting clubs right away to ensure that you save your spot before someone else takes it! Check out www.calgaryarea.com for a full list of all the sports and clubs that Calgary has to offer across all of its neighborhoods!

If you would like to get involved with something a little more casual, go to your local specialized sporting goods store and inquire with management about what they offer. Often times smaller stores will have groups that meet to practice and play their sport of choice together. For example, The Running Room has a free Sunday group run you can go to and meet other runners from your area at!

If you absolutely cannot find something that works with your schedule or that is financially viable for you, do some online research and see what resources are available. There are plenty of at-home physical fitness programs you can do if you are just looking for a way to stay in shape. There are also recreation centers with things such as basketball courts that you can reserve for casual games with your friends!

It is easy to stay active in the summertime when there are so many activates to do outdoors, but in the fall it becomes a little more challenging. Motivate yourself to continue trying to live a healthy lifestyle and to not let life get ahead of you!

Good luck and have fun!
