F. Scott Fitzgerald once wrote, "life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall"; and oh, how crisp it has become! The autumn leaves are in full bloom, flaunting gorgeous shades of reds, yellows and oranges. Autumn is a beautiful--but short--transition time between our hot summers and cold winters, so embrace this small window of beauty while it lasts!

The most popular destination to see the fall colours is the mountains, where larch season is underway and autumn is on full display. However, mountain destinations can be packed with locals looking for an escape and tourists coming to stand in awe and wonder. Popular Kananaskis hiking destinations, the towns of Banff and Canmore, and Lake Louise are crowded these days, so skip them! Did you…

Although we love warm summer days, fall cannot be matched in beautiful Calgary, Alberta.

The autumn season is fleeting. Here in Calgary it typically lasts from mid-September to mid-October. We are so lucky to get to experience all four seasons here in Calgary, no matter how short some of them may be. Soak them in. Experience them as deeply as you can.

That being said, here is our Autumn Bucket List:

Tomorrow is the official first day of Fall! Things have been particularly autumnal around Calgary lately, most notably in the crisp weather we've been having. So as summer dresses and bathing suits are stored away and mittens and heavy jackets come back out, many Calgarian's are hurrying to get their homes and lives winterized.

One area of the home that needs to be winterized is the garden! Rather than simply closing up shop, take a moment to do one final harvest! You may be worried that the food your harvest will go bad before it is consumed. If so, we highly recommend canning whatever is leftover so that you can have fresh, home-grown food even in the middle of winter. Not everything is good canned, but many things seem to get even better once…

Autumn is one of the most underrated seasons that Alberta has to offer. This is typically due to the fact that because of the Northern weather we all are subject to, summer is typically swept away September 1st and immediately replaced with frosty mornings and fluffy white stuff.

This year has been fantastic. Albeit that freak snowstorm back in September, summer has slowly stretched her limbs and transitioned into an absolutely gorgeous fall. The trees that were so damaged from the snow have shown tremendous amounts of resilience and are looking incredible.

This does not happen often, so take advantage of it! We are counting off our top three favourite places to go here close to home if you want to see the beautiful fall colours Alberta has to offer…

The fall is here and summer is over, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the great outdoors! One of the best ways to do this is to join an organized sport, whether that be through your community sports association or your school! The school sports starting this fall are mainly volleyball and football. Try out for your team and begin preparing for the season by eating healthier and getting active! Show your coach your dedication and confidence by introducing yourself to them and coming to the gym prepared and on time. Check your school’s website for tryout schedules. Good luck!
