What a wonderful and unique concept!
According to Little Free Library.org, Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favourite books. Literally, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone can stop by and pick up a book. The intention is that the borrowed books will either be returned to the Little Free Library or replaced with other literary titles to share with someone else. Best thing of all, as the name implies, it’s free!
Little Free Library.org’s mission is to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide, while at the same time building a sense of community.
The Montgomery community is now on board with the first Little Free Library in their area! Local Dale Melenberg’s Little Free Library is located at 4822 21 Ave NW and is registered with www.littlefreelibrary.org.
If you have a yearning for reading and are looking for a new title, or have a few books you’d like to share, drop by the Montgomery Little Free Library. Who knows you may just strike up a friendship with another kindred soul and find yourself discussing some of your all-time favourites over coffee!
