While springing forward means less sleep the night of, it does mean that our mornings get a little brighter. Has anyone else noticed the birds singing before your alarm clock goes off, or the warm forecast for next week? Apparently nature is ready to spring forward, and for that we cannot complain.

Spring is a peculiar time for Calgarians. It seems like the moment we reach temperatures over zero degrees, the shorts come out and the toques are packed away. Weather in Calgary is delicate and undecided. It can never quite make up its mind on when spring will officially come. Therefore, we are launched into a constant back-and-forth between warm, sunny days and freezing, windy cold. While us Calgarians may be strong enough to handle this, sometimes our gardens are not.

The biggest problem people have is their garden beginning to…

March 20th was the first official day of spring. Crazy, right? Since then we have had a number of snowstorms and cloudy skies, most notably yesterday when it snowed all day long. The good news? The snow was wet and heavy, and the heat of the sunshine today has already begun to melt it. While Mother Nature seems to want to keep winter around, the sun is on our side. Thank goodness!

Regardless of how high our snow piles still are, the beautiful reality is that it is, in fact, spring. Around this time is when our homes transition out of winter. We begin to pack away our snow pants and mittens (with a knock on wood), any remaining Christmas lights get taken down, moody blues and rich reds are replaced with pastels, and we decide to force spring into…

Spring is well underway, and summertime is quickly approaching. With the warm weather and new seasons come new activities, such as gardening, spring cleaning, backyard BBQ’s, etc.. Many of the things that we do on our property’s during the warm months have specific bylaws attached to them. Here are some to be aware of:
