Congratulations, Calgary!

You were voted that 5th most livable city for the 7th straight year!

Cities across the globe are voted on a scale of 1-100. Points are awarded for stability, education, healthcare, infrastructure and culture and environment. Tied with Adelaide, Australia, Calgary earned a score of 96.6. The top score went to Melbourne, Australia which scored 97.5. A 0.9 point difference is all that separated us!

This achievement is a testament to the truly great city that Calgary is, and the people who make it so wonderful. Mayor Naheed Nenshi notes, "this is a reminder that, despite our current economic challenges, Calgary remains one of the best cities in the world. Ours is a great city in which to make a living and a life, and that…

CREB® is happy to report that "Calgary’s housing market in June saw a modest improvement in sales along with an increase in new listings." This is great news for both buyers and sellers! There was a lot of inventory gain in June.  Inventory levels  were 11% higher than last years average, coming in at 6,659 units. However, CREB® affirms that despite this, the market remains stable. They report, "second quarter activity continues to demonstrate improved supply-demand balance and price stability. City wide benchmark prices totaled $441,500 in June. This is a 0.5 per cent gain over last month and…

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

This celebratory day is a great way to kick off the beautiful weather we have been having here in Calgary. While many believe Cinco De Mayo to be Mexico’s Independence Day, it actually marks “the date of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). A relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations” (read more about it HERE).

Cinco De Mayo starts May’s celebrations, but here are some more events happening around YYC you definitely will want to check out:
