Family Day Long Weekend has arrived!

Most people will be enjoying one extra day away from school and work to relax. This weekend was designed to give families the opportunity to spend quality time together, since doing so in the midst of a busy new year can be difficult. Whether you have family or friends to celebrate with, extend yourself to those around you to make the most of this opportunity. Happy long weekend!


There is nothing quite as glorious as having not one, not two, but three days in a row off! Long weekends feel like the only weekends you get to truly relax, which is why we are planning on making the most of it. They only come around once every month or so, after all! 

Not sure what to do this long weekend? Here are some ideas: 

  • Stock up your DVR by scheduling it to record all of the Olympic events! Since South Korea is in a much different time zone, all the best Olympic action is happening while we're fast asleep. Load up the DVR, pick up all your favorite drinks and snacks and binge-watch away. The bonus? You can fast forward through all of the commentary and get straight to the action.

Family Day is a day to take part in activities aimed at the whole family.

There are plenty of fun things to do with your family right here in Calgary for the Family Day holiday Monday. There is no shortage of activities downtown or in the burbs for people to explore.

If you love the outdoors, consider a day on the slopes or a skate on the pond, an afternoon at the zoo or on the pathways, to name a few.

Or maybe you prefer the indoors and that’s OK too! There are tons of things from which to choose. You could play board games at home, catch a movie, walk the mall, enjoy a concert, or even have a blast learning at the Science Centre.
