Winter

We are proud residents of the Bowness community, and enjoy finding ways to give back. One of our favourite community traditions is the Bowness Community Association Annual Holiday Dinner. This year Team Ken Richter donated money to contribute to this great cause. Read the letter we received below to learn more about the impact the Holiday Dinner made. Be encouraged that your support for organizations like this truly does make a difference in the lives of your fellow Calgarians!

Happy New Year! We thank you for an incredible 2022, and look forward to a bright 2023. Have fun celebrating the dawn of a new day!

Some New Year wishes...

Looking back on the months gone by,
As a new year starts and an old one ends,
We contemplate what brought us joy,
And we think of our loved ones and our friends.

Recalling all the happy times,
Remembering how they enriched our lives,
We reflect upon who really counts,
As the fresh and bright new year arrives.

And when we ponder those who do,
We immediately think of you.

Thanks for being one of the reasons we'll have a Happy New Year!

Christmas is this weekend! Are you ready? If not, you may be resorting to purchasing a gift card for everyone left on your Christmas list; and while many gift guides will rag on gift cards as impersonable and somehow less special, we are here to tell you that gift cards are great. Why? Because at the end of the day, people want cold hard cash.

Most people don't have something specific on their list; but they do have an idea of places they like to purchase from. It is absolutely glorious to be standing in the checkout line and realizing you have a gift card. Suddenly, the items in your hand are basically free. It's such a lovely treat, and the gift that keeps on giving. Plus, as people get older the things they really want often come with a heavy…

Black Friday is next week! Get prepared with these hot tips:

Start Early: Narcity writes, "Black Friday deals don't just happen on Black Friday! Quite a few brands have already launched early sales, meaning you can score a deal on whatever you have your eye on right now. Some notable pre-Black Friday sales to take advantage of include those from Wayfair, Walmart, Best Buy and Bath & Body Works, which all have deals either on now or starting very soon.

Sign Up for Loyalty Programs: "Store loyalty programs often grant members early access to coupons, sales, and promotions, then let them earn rewards on what they buy. So sign up for Black Friday shopping alerts. In some cases, you can even find out whether the products you want are in stock or…

This is a strange month for events, since so much is up in the air with COVID restrictions. While we’re trying to stay positive, we wanted to make sure this month you get some suggestions of things you’ll be able to do no matter what COVID restrictions are in effect. Here are our top 10 suggestions:

  1. Go Skating on Bowness Lagoon. The weather is cold enough for ice, but warm enough that you won’t freeze out on the pond. Check out their new ice pathways!
  2. Shop Local in Inglewood! Wandering through the local shops in Inglewood is such a fun way to spend an afternoon. Check out the Spice Merchant, Plant, Rosso Coffee and more.
  3. Check out our local murals! You can view maps of where all the prettiest murals are in the city. Take a friend and a…

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone! We hope you enjoy a fun, safe evening ringing in 2022! Just like last year, I think everyone is more than ready to begin a new year. Hopefully this one brings us a step closer to some normality after a tumultuous two years.

Here are some fun facts about New Year's Eve to get you pumped up for tonight:

  • The very first New Year's Eve was celebrated 4,000 years by the ancient Babylonians.
  • Celebrating with friends and family is a tradition because legend has it the first people you see will either give you good or bad luck; make sure you look at someone who likes you!
  • The first ball drop in Times Square New York was in 1907. They used the ball, covered in 25 watt bulbs, because of a fireworks ban. Now the…

Christmas is this weekend! Are you scrambling for a last minute gift idea? Don't worry, you're not alone. Here are some ideas for the different people in your life:

  • For your Nerdy co-worker:  A subscription to LootCrate, which is a box delivered monthly that is filled with fandom paraphernalia. With exclusive collectors items, comics, t-shirts and more this is a sure winner and the gift the keeps giving every month.
  • For that niece you are trying to reconnect with: A boss babe mug from Indigo and Mindy Kaling's book "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?" Hot tip: read the book before you wrap it. It is hilarious and insightful, and your niece will think you are the coolest.

The holidays are full of parties and events. Here are some of our best tips on how to host a stress-free gathering:

1). Give yourself some time. While last minute parties are all fun and games, they typically lead to incredible amounts of unnecessary stress. Typically two weeks notice is an appropriate amount of time for yourself and guests, however since the holidays are such a busy time we recommend sending invites at least three weeks before the big day.

2). Plan ahead. Make your shopping lists, start crafting the decor and prepare as much food as early on as possible. Lots of desserts, like pies and cookies, can be made in advance. Even some main course items can be made ahead of time. The more you can get done before the event, the less…

The holidays are quickly approaching, which means Christmas parties and get-togethers are on the horizon. While nothing can stop the excitement of the holidays, as we head into our second holiday season in the midst of a pandemic, many people are experiencing increased levels of anxiety, too. A holiday get together isn't as simple as they once were.

The Omicron variant of COVID-19 poses a threat to many people's holiday plans as governments around the world are introducing stricter gathering limits. Many are worried we could see a shut down similar to that of 2020's March lockdown. While Omicron has not proven itself to be a harder hit of COVID, it has proven itself to be much easier to catch; even if you are double vaccinated. This is frustrating…
