Seasonal Holidays

January 25th is Bell’s “Let’s Talk” Day. This is a great opportunity not just to participate in their initiative, but to take some time to learn more about why mental health is so important and worth investing in.

On their website, Bell writes, “In September 2010, we launched the Bell Let’s Talk mental health initiative, the largest corporate commitment to mental health in Canada focused on 4 key action pillars: fighting the stigma, improving access to care, supporting world class research and leading by example in workplace mental health. Since then, Bell Let’s Talk has committed more than $139 million to Canadian mental health initiatives.”

Wow! Bell Let’s Talk Day also coincides with Blue Monday, January 16th, which statistically has the…

This year Team Ken Richter donated money to contribute to this great cause. Read the letter we received below to learn more about the impact the Holiday Dinner made. Happy New Year! We thank you for an incredible 2022, and look forward to a bright 2023. Have fun celebrating the dawn of a new day!

Some New Year wishes...

Looking back on the months gone by,
As a new year starts and an old one ends,
We contemplate what brought us joy,
And we think of our loved ones and our friends.

Recalling all the happy times,
Remembering how they enriched our lives,
We reflect upon who really counts,
As the fresh and bright new year arrives.

And when we ponder those who do,
We immediately think of you.

Thanks for being one of the reasons we'll have a Happy New Year!

Christmas is this weekend! Are you ready? If not, you may be resorting to purchasing a gift card for everyone left on your Christmas list; and while many gift guides will rag on gift cards as impersonable and somehow less special, we are here to tell you that gift cards are great. Why? Because at the end of the day, people want cold hard cash.

Most people don't have something specific on their list; but they do have an idea of places they like to purchase from. It is absolutely glorious to be standing in the checkout line and realizing you have a gift card. Suddenly, the items in your hand are basically free. It's such a lovely treat, and the gift that keeps on giving. Plus, as people get older the things they really want often come with a heavy…

Black Friday is next week! Get prepared with these hot tips:

Start Early: Narcity writes, "Black Friday deals don't just happen on Black Friday! Quite a few brands have already launched early sales, meaning you can score a deal on whatever you have your eye on right now. Some notable pre-Black Friday sales to take advantage of include those from Wayfair, Walmart, Best Buy and Bath & Body Works, which all have deals either on now or starting very soon.

Sign Up for Loyalty Programs: "Store loyalty programs often grant members early access to coupons, sales, and promotions, then let them earn rewards on what they buy. So sign up for Black Friday shopping alerts. In some cases, you can even find out whether the products you want are in stock or…

Today is Remembrance Day. It is a day of recognition of the efforts of so many people to fight for our freedom, both past and present.

Today we want to share our favourite Remembrance Day poem, 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae:

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

Thank you to all who…

Back to school season is in full swing, with many grade schools starting classes as early as August! With the back to school season comes new schedules, activities, processes, people, and so much more. It can be an overwhelming and over-stimulating couple of weeks getting settled into a new routine; so be gracious with yourself and your loved ones as you navigate this transition. We know it’s exhausting, so take care of each other.

One of the ways you can be gentle on yourself and others during this season is to celebrate the start of the school year the best way possible: by ordering take-out and putting on a family-favorite movie. Jen Hatmaker, author and speaker, encourages her readers to make the first Friday of back to school season a pizza…

Ahhh, the long weekend is here! Everyone seems to take a deep breath when a long weekend arrives, knowing they will have one more day to rest.

Did you know that in some countries, such as Belgium, nearly every workplace keeps to a four day work day? They find it makes employees more productive, and has increased levels of happiness. Instead of packing one day of your weekend with errands, you have a day just for that. After all, we were never intended to work a 40 hour work week AND take care of domestic duties. If you’re having trouble balancing it all, go easy on yourself.

This is why long weekends are so lovely. They allow time for you to really rest, and go do something if you’re so inclined! If you’re looking for something fun to do this long…

Keeping your home safe and secure while you’re away on summer holidays is extremely important. There would be nothing worse than returning from your glorious summer vacation to a mess back home. Statistics show that homes are most vulnerable to predators during the summer months and at Christmastime, because both are seasons where thieves know people are traveling and distracted. Here are some easy tips to help keep your home safe that don’t require a hefty down payment:

1). Get a Beware of Dog sign. Whether you have a menacing guard dog, an overly friendly companion , or no dog at all, Beware of Dog signs are proven to deter criminals. These signs are incredibly inexpensive and easy to post on your gates and doors.

2). Leave on a light and the…
